Songs of Connection

 Listening to the songs from our youth, our culture, our teenage years and those special times of our lives can literally BRING US BACK to those experiences and senses that are connected to those songs.   Like a time capsule....we can close our eyes and picture ourselves in that moment.  It is powerful and it is real!   This is the opening to the film ALIVE INSIDE that illustrates this gift.

We All have those special Songs that are embedded in our feelings, experiences & senses.....those songs that are connection to our Lives.   They are the Soundtrack of our Lives.   The Miracle is that even someone in the latest stages of cognitive decline due to Alzheimer's or other dementia WILL COME ALIVE right in front of your eyes....when those Life Story Songs are discovered and shared.

The process of discovering, sharing and connecting with those important songs and the memories that come alive in the process is a Gift of love, of sense of Self to the person with dementia and a source of JOY  for all involved.
